I attend Godavarish Gobindpur. It is a model school of our locality. The main attraction of the school is its library. Literally library means a building or room in which a lot of books are kept for people to use. Its usefulness is manifold.
Our school has 600 students and 31 teachers. Two large rooms of our school building are used for the library. Our school library contains about 30,000 books and a number of magazines. Mrs. Kalpana Mohanty is in charge of the library. It opens at 11 O' clock and is kept open till 5 p.m. on every working day.. Library books are issued to the pupils and the teachers. We borrow and return books at Bidyabhawan at any time during school hours.
In the library there are some chairs and benches with desks for us. We spend our leisure hours there in reading books and magazines. There are books in Oriya, English and Hindi languages. We pay five rupees as library fee every academic year. We are allowed to borrow two books at a time. If anybody keeps the books borrowed by him for more than one week, he has to pay a fine. The journals and magazines are kept in the reading room. Daily newspapers are available there. The reading room can accommodate 30 pupils at a time.
It is said that reading makes a ready man. We cannot get everything that we need from our text- books. Reading a lot of books broadens the horizons of our knowledge. Hence, our school library plays an important role in expanding the sphere of knowledge of the pupils and the teachers. We are proud of our school ibrary.
